1. Information We Collect
DoomFree is designed as a privacy-first application. Most features work entirely on your device. We collect minimal anonymous analytics to improve the app experience.
What Stays on Your Device
- Habit completion data: Your daily tasks, streaks, and progress
- Coin balance: Earned and spent coins
- Journal entries: Your personal reflections
- App preferences: Enabled habits, custom ordering
- Screen time settings: Which apps you've restricted
- Photos for verification: Used only momentarily for AI verification, never stored or transmitted
Camera Access: The app may request camera access to verify certain habits (e.g., smiling or outdoor exposure). Images are processed locally on the device using on-device AI (Core ML/Vision) and are not uploaded or stored on our servers. Photos are immediately discarded after verification.
Screen Time API: The app uses Apple's Screen Time APIs to allow you to voluntarily select apps you want to limit. Information about selected apps remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Analytics Data We Collect
We use a third-party analytics service (Mixpanel) to understand how users interact with the app. This may include:
- Anonymous usage events: App opens, feature usage, button taps
- Device identifiers: Anonymous device ID for analytics purposes
- Approximate location: Derived from IP address (country/region level)
This information is used only to improve the app experience and is not used to identify you personally or sold to third parties.
2. How We Use Information
The anonymous analytics data we collect through Mixpanel is used solely to:
- Understand which features are most useful to users
- Identify and fix bugs or crashes
- Improve the overall app experience
- Make informed decisions about future development

3. Data Storage
On-Device Storage
All your personal data is stored locally on your iPhone using iOS's secure storage mechanisms:
- UserDefaults: App preferences and progress data
- App Group Container: Shared data between app and extensions
Analytics Data Retention
Analytics data collected through Mixpanel may be retained for a limited period for product improvement and debugging purposes. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Data Backup
Your DoomFree data may be included in your iCloud or iTunes backups if you have device backup enabled. This is handled entirely by iOS and we have no access to these backups.
If you delete the app, all local data is permanently removed from your device.
4. Third-Party Services
Analytics (Mixpanel)
We use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to understand how users interact with the app. This helps us improve DoomFree and fix issues.
Mixpanel may collect anonymous usage events, device identifiers, and approximate location derived from IP address. For more information, see Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any third-party advertising services.
5. Children's Privacy
DoomFree is not directed toward children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
Parental Note: The Screen Time restrictions feature uses iOS Family Controls. Parents may want to review how the app integrates with their family's Screen Time settings.
6. Your Rights
Since we don't collect any personal data, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) don't apply in the conventional sense.

7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes, we will notify users through the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
Your continued use of DoomFree after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
